Exciting One School, One Book Activities
This week, we began our One School, One Book journey with Poppy, and our students have been participating in fun activities to build excitement around the story! We know evenings can be busy, but we hope you’ve had a chance to read Chapters 1-5 with your child, with Chapters 6-10 coming up next week. Throughout the school, students have been earning porcupine and owl rewards for demonstrating positive behaviors, which they can turn in for a grade-level points challenge. They may also find hidden porcupines and owls in the hallways, adding to the fun competition. To support learning, Poppy-themed vocabulary words and definitions have been posted around the school, and students can try their hand at the daily vocabulary scramble challenge in the cafeteria. We love seeing the enthusiasm for Poppy grow and appreciate your support of this reading experience at home.
PBIS CARE Poster Contest Winners
A huge thank you to all the students who participated in this year’s PBIS CARE Poster Contest! We were truly impressed by the creativity and thoughtfulness displayed in each entry, as they beautifully reflected our core values of being Compassionate, Accountable, Respectful, and Engaged. It’s inspiring to see our students embracing these important principles. After careful consideration, we are excited to announce our runner-up winners for each grade level: Madison Spraggins (BK/K), Lillian Luker (Grade 1), Vivian Hoy (Grade 2), Elena Martinez-Domenzain (Grade 3), and Josh Smith and Jack Olari (Grade 5). A special congratulations goes to Lucy Fairbanks (Grade 5), who has been named our overall winner!

It does not include questions on personal topics such as drug or alcohol use, relationships, or political and religious affiliations. The survey questions can be reviewed at https://bit.ly/3uI5Iz2. To opt your child out, submit the form by Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at https://bit.ly/49kk7QR. The survey will be conducted between March 10-21. Additionally, we will participate in the MI Student Voice Family Perception Survey, which will be emailed to families next week.
