Counselor’s Corner: Ms. Nemeth
As we move into the second half of the school year, it’s a great time to check in on how our students are adjusting to the changes that come with winter. The shorter days and colder weather can sometimes lead to shifts in mood and energy levels. Here are a few tips to help support your child during this time:
Encourage physical activity: Even in colder weather, regular exercise can boost mood and energy. Try indoor games or family walks when it's sunny!
Keep routines consistent: As we head into the winter months, sticking to a routine—whether it’s bedtime or homework time—can help children feel secure and focused.
Talk about emotions: Winter can be a time when some children feel more tired or moody. Encourage your child to express how they’re feeling, and remind them that it’s okay to have different emotions.
Limit screen time: With more indoor time, it can be easy for kids to spend extra time on screens. Setting limits and encouraging creative play or reading can help with balancing screen time.
