Chiller Update
I want to thank you for your child's patience in dealing with the humid and hot conditions in some areas of the building this past week. I’m pleased to share that the replacement part for the chiller arrived yesterday and was installed today—our chiller is now operational!
Patriot Day
To commemorate Patriot Day, we would like to encourage our students to wear red, white, and blue on Wednesday, September 11. This simple act of wearing the colors of our flag will help instill a sense of unity and pride in our students and remind them of the importance of coming together as a nation.

Open a Kid Account with Our Student-Run Credit Union!
Did you know your child can open a kid account and start saving money through our LOC Student-Run Credit Union? This is a fun way for kids to learn about financial responsibility while growing their savings! There are no account fees, and LOC will pay quarterly dividends on any balance. It only takes $5 to open an account, and there’s no minimum balance required to earn dividends. The LOC Student-Run Credit Union opens on Wednesday, September 11th. To learn more, visit loccreditunion.com/kids-and-teens. If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie Hamlin at [email protected].
Positivity Project
We are excited to continue our partnership with the Positivity Project (P2), a program that helps students build positive relationships and develop strong character. Research shows that strong character-based relationships lead to better health, happiness, and resilience. Families can access helpful P2 resources at P2 for Families and Spanish resources at P2 Para Familias. The password is P2 (case sensitive). Our goal is to make it easy for families to discuss character strengths and positive relationships at home. All classrooms will continue using P2 lessons during weekly class meetings.
Livingston Educational Service Agency Special Education Millage Renewal and Restoration
The Livingston Educational Service Agency (LESA) is proposing the renewal and restoration of the county-wide special education millage on the November 5 ballot. If approved, this millage proposal would continue to fund services for more than 3,500 students with special needs in local school districts. These funds support programs like Unified Sports, work readiness, peer-to-peer initiatives, and paraeducators. While federal and state mandates require support for special education students, they do not provide total funding. The millage helps fill this gap, helping ensure these mandates are met without diverting resources from other student's educational needs. Join us at one of the upcoming informational meetings on September 19 at 5:30 p.m., October 3 at noon, or October 17 at 5:30 p.m. to learn more, or visit https://bit.ly/3yYj7VT.
Remember to Complete Your Child Nutrition and Education Benefits Application
This school year, the State of Michigan is providing free meals for all students, ensuring that every child has access to nutritious food during the school day. However, we strongly encourage eligible families to complete the Child Nutrition and Education Benefits Application. Doing so opens up additional benefits like reduced Chromebook fees, discounts on college admissions and academic tests, lower-cost home internet, access to the Summer EBT program, and helps our district secure essential funding from state and federal programs. Please note that free meals do not include à la carte items at the secondary level. To learn more or to complete the application, visit https://bit.ly/3BkO45d.d.
