Our Kids, Our Community, Our Future Bond Proposal Informational Video

On Tuesday, November 7, our community will vote on the Our Kids, Our Community, Our Future Bond Proposal. To watch a short video on the bond proposal, please visit https://bit.ly/46jQflH.  The proposal focuses on five important areas: Safety and Security, Learning Environments, Teaching Tools, Aging Building Infrastructure, and Community Facilities. If approved, the bond proposal would provide $258 million to improve these areas across the district while expecting to maintain the current tax rate of 5.5 mills.  The district will host an informational meeting on the Our Kids, Our Community, Our Future Bond Proposal on Wednesday, September 27, at 5:30 p.m. at Northwest Elementary. Thank You for Making Our Traverse Wall a Reality

Thanks to your incredible generosity and support during our recent Flower Fundraiser, we have met our financial goal. This means we are well on our way to purchasing a traverse wall for our gymnasium!  We will keep you updated on the installation timeline, and we're excited to announce a fun event to celebrate this achievement. Several students who excelled in the fundraiser will have the opportunity to silly string Mr. Holmes and Mr. Larente on October 3rd. Be sure to follow our social media for pictures and updates from this event!

Timberwolves are Readers

As we embark on this new school year, we want to emphasize the crucial role parents play in nurturing a love for reading in their children. By reading with your child daily, listening to them read, and practicing echo (you read a line, then they repeat) and choral reading (read together at the same time), you create a powerful bond while fostering their reading skills.  Additionally, revisiting and discussing favorite stories deepens comprehension and critical thinking. Encourage your child to share their thoughts, ask questions, and connect the stories to their own lives. If you ever struggle to find captivating books, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher for assistance in selecting appropriate reading material.  Let's work together to make this school year a remarkable chapter in your child's reading adventure.

At breakfast, schools must offer students all three required food components in at least the minimum required amounts. Under OVS, a student must be offered at least four food items and select at least three items, one of which must be ½ cup of fruit or vegetables for OVS. Some food items count as more than one; for example, a bagel sandwich counts as two food items.  At lunch, schools must offer students all five required food components in at least the minimum required amounts. The components at lunch are meats/meat alternates, grains, fruit, vegetables, and fluid milk. Under OVS, students must take at least three components in the required serving sizes.
