The Three Fires Student Council has organized a supply drive to support the local Michigan Humane Society. The drive began on April 11th and ends Thursday, May 12th. Each week student council members will collect and count the items collected by each class. The class that collects the most items for the shelter will win “A Day With Timber!” Timber, our Three Fires therapy dog, will spend an entire day with the class that brings in the most items.  Click here for a list wish from the Michigan Humane Society.

M-STEP Calendar

This spring, Michigan is administering its required state assessment to all 3rd- 5th graders.  The test is called M-STEP - Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress. All Howell elementary schools will be taking the online version of the assessment.  The state mandates that all schools statewide follow the same testing window.  The Three Fires in-person M-STEP testing schedule is as follows:

  • 5th Grade:  April 25th, April 26, April 29th, and May 6th.

  • 4th Grade:  May 2nd, May 4th, May 9th, and May 11th.

Please mark these dates on your calendar.  We are giving parents the testing schedule so that appointments, vacations, etc. can be scheduled around these dates as much as possible. We encourage you to help your student take this seriously and rest well the night before.

Counselor’s Corner: Jeanie Nemeth

This week was Howell Public School’s Decision Week - a week to honor our 2022 graduating seniors and celebrate their many post high school plans!  At the elementary school level, we celebrated right along with them with various activities to plant the seed about the many exciting opportunities that await our students after graduation.  Our school had Spirit Days on Wednesday (Red, White and Blue day to honor students joining the military) and Friday  (College Spirit Wear day to celebrate students attending community college, a university, or a trade school).  Many of our students heard a read-aloud of a children’s book about careers.  Our 4th graders are participating in Xello lessons about skills and interests.  Our 5th grade classes are writing letters to seniors who attended our school through our “Adopt a Senior” project.  It was a great week to celebrate the Howell Class of 2022!
