Health and Safety Reminders

The number of COVID-19 cases in our county remains very high, and we all must continue to work together to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 within our schools. If your child is showing any signs of illness, they must stay home. If your child or someone within the house has COVID-19 test results pending, they must stay home. In addition to staying home when sick, the LCHD still strongly recommends that all individuals wear a mask while in public, practice frequent hand washing and avoid large gatherings.

Three Fires Robotics: Jill Cain

I would like to thank our robotics coaches, volunteers, and parents for their dedication as mentors to our students! This years coaches were Andrew Elms, Bret Ford, Justin Hammack, Pat Hogan, Penny Karaska, Brian Karaska, Trinie Lounsbury, Jennelle Lybrink, Brent Lybrink, Mike Mazurek, Bobbie Mazurek, Matt Medler, Jessica Nunez, Derek Pluta, Adam Polega, Kristen Snelling, Danny Stricker, & Micah Swansey.  A program goal at Three Fires Elementary is for students to have an enjoyable experience with exploring, building, researching, coding, and learning the core values of FIRST Robotics. This year there were 7 Explore FLL Jr teams. At the Robotics festival, students were able to showcase their hard work along with having a fun time working together to solve team challenges during the event.  Each student came home with a medal and team trophy.  Three Fires has 3 Challenge FLL teams, and they competed in 3 categories. Robot Design which consists of programming their robot. Students built mission models from legos and each mission had a task the robot needed to complete. This year, teams researched and brainstormed solutions to transit issues.  At the district competitions, judges asked each teammate how they have instilled FIRST Robotics’ core values, gracious professionalism, and coopertition during their time together. One of our Challenge teams progressed to the state competition!   The time spent with the children has not only helped them learn about new things and have a little fun with their friends while doing so, it also helped build confidence and relationships.  If your child would want to join one of our robotics teams next year, look for more information in the spring.
