Vote on Tuesday, November 7

Please remember to vote on Tuesday, November 7. The Our Kids, Our Community, Our Future Bond Proposal will be on the ballot, outlining plans for district-wide improvements focusing on safety and security, learning environments, learning tools, aging infrastructure, and community needs. This proposal is structured with no expected tax rate increase from the current tax rate of 5.5 mills. For a comprehensive overview of what the bond encompasses, we invite you to visit HowellSchools.com/Bond. Participation in local elections is vital, and we encourage all eligible community members to exercise their right to vote on Tuesday.

Secure Vestibule Safety and Security

We would like to take a moment to remind you of the essential safety and security measures in place within our school's secure vestibule. Entrance Protocol: When entering the building during school hours, please refrain from holding the door open for other parents and visitors. Our office staff's protocol is to admit only one visitor or group at a time. This helps us closely monitor and control access to the building.  Exit Protocol: As you exit the secure vestibule, ensure that the office entrance door closes behind you before you open the secure vestibule door. It is imperative not to hold open the exterior secure vestibule door for any parent or visitor.

Canned Food Drive Starts November 6th

We are excited to announce that our annual Gleaners Food Drive will kick off on Monday, November 6th and continue until Friday, December 1st. This important initiative, organized by students in the high school's leadership class, helps support families in our community who rely on the food bank.  Three Fires Student Council members are eager to collect and count the donations our school receives. To encourage participation, there will be two winners: one upper elementary and one lower elementary classroom. Each first-place winner will be rewarded with a classroom pizza party!  The food drive will feature different themes for each week:

Week 1 (Nov 6-10): Canned fruits and vegetables

Week 2 (Nov 13-17): Soup and canned tuna

Week 3 (Nov 20-24): Chef Boyardee canned meals (ravioli, spaghettios, spaghetti, lasagna, etc.)

Week 4 (Nov 27-Dec 1): To be determined

In addition to canned food items, students may choose to make monetary donations, with every $1 counting as one item collected.

School Breakfast is Available Each Day

Did you know the Howell Food Service Department serves breakfast daily at every school? Students who eat breakfast have been shown to have better concentration, be more alert, and reach higher levels of achievement. You can view the breakfast menu for your child's school at https://bit.ly/3oVCcPD. Breakfast is free for all students as part of the Michigan School Meals program. While school meals are free for all students, we still encourage eligible families to complete a Free and Reduced Price School Meal Application as they may qualify for additional programs, such as the Summer EBT program, discounts on college application fees, academic tests, home internet access, and reduced Chromebook repair fees. If you think your family may be eligible for free and reduced-price school meals, please complete an application at https://howell.familyportal.cloud/
