Thanks to all of the families who were able to attend our Title I Family Night Tuesday evening. We hope you and your child enjoyed all of the activities as we wrapped up our One School, One Book event. We hope your family enjoyed this year’s book, A Boy Called Bat.
On Friday, February 24th we welcomed author and motivational speaker, Anthony Ianni, to our school as part of our One School, One Book activities! Anthony’s message to our 3rd - 5th grade students was about “how to not only go out and be the change in life, but to also go out and make the change you wish to see in life. It’s about respecting everyone.” During the assembly, Anthony shared that when he was 4 years old, he was diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder, which is on the Autism Spectrum. Doctors and specialists told Anthony’s parents that he would barely graduate high school, never be an athlete, and never go to college. Anthony shared with our students that despite adversity and numerous personal challenges, he worked hard and never gave up. Anthony also delivered a motivational message about belonging to a family and a community in the schools you attend. Not only did he earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University in Sociology, he is the first athlete with autism to play NCAA Division One College Basketball. Anthony played for legendary coach Tom Izzo while at MSU. The students truly enjoyed and were engaged in Anthony’s presentation. Please know that this assembly was made possible by the donations you make to our PTO! Special thanks to the PTO for funding a majority of our One School, One Book activities!
As some of you may have heard on WHMI, it was announced last Friday morning that Alison Grainger, a Special Education Teacher from Three Fires, was one of the station’s “Making the Grade” winners. The award honors outstanding teachers in Livingston County. Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Grainger on this deserving recognition! Mrs. Grainger and her paraprofessional team always go above and beyond each day to provide a warm and welcoming learning experience for our students!
On February 25th, the Three Fires archers took home a 2nd place team trophy at the Fowlerville Winter Classic. Top finishers included Scarlett Rich (262), Remy Schaefer (257) and Shelby Vogan (238).
On February 18th, The Three Fires archers took home a 2nd place team trophy at the Howell 3D Tournament. Top finishers included Cole Sredzinski (242), Scarlett Rich (221), Reese Rochowiak (210), Lucy Darabos (201), and Shelby Vogan (200).
Spring Picture Day is Coming!
Spring Picture Day is Monday, March 7th. Unlike fall photos, only those students who are ordering pictures will have their picture taken. The easiest way to order Spring Pictures is online at https://my.lifetouch.com/mylifetouch/#/

5th Grade Group Photo Ordering Information
On Tuesday, March 7th, all of our 5th grade students will come to the gym so Lifetouch can take the 5th grade class photo. Got Art Exhibit Opens Next Week
Got Art is an annual art exhibit of county-wide student artwork. Art instructors promote learning in various mediums to enhance our young people's artistic talents. Got Art is our way to encourage the talents of students throughout Livingston County. The secondary show opens on March 7 and runs through March 12. The elementary show begins on March 14 and runs through March 19. Got Art is open to the public and free of charge from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from noon to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday & Sunday. The artwork will be on display at The Opera House in downtown Howell.

On Thursday, March 16, from 6–7 p.m., our school will host a Begindergarten and Kindergarten Information Night. At this event, families will learn about the school, meet the principal and begindergarten and kindergarten teachers, and tour the school.
New Dual Language Immersion Applications Due March 24
The application deadline for the district’s new Spanish Dual Language Immersion program, Academia Bilingüe at Three Fires Elementary is Friday, March 24. For the 2023-2024 school year, the program will consist of one kindergarten and one first-grade classroom. A dual language immersion program sets all students on a path to being future-ready. In the program, students will learn to think, read, write, and communicate in two languages. National School Breakfast Week is March 6-10
To encourage more families to take advantage of the healthy choices available with school breakfast, Howell Public Schools will celebrate National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) during March 6-10, 2023. The NSBW campaign theme, “DIG IN to School Breakfast,” reminds the entire school community that healthy breakfast options are available at school to provide students an energizing start to the day. Busy weekday mornings make it a challenge for many families to find time for a healthy breakfast. Fortunately, our Food Service Department offers nutritious school breakfasts, complete with fruit and low-fat or fat-free milk, to ensure students are fueled for learning every school day. The Livingston Educational Service Agency (LESA) has partnered with ParentGuidance.org to provide a new resource to families in Livingston County. Through this partnership, ParentGuidance.org will offer a wealth of free resources to each family with a child attending school in Livingston County, including on-demand courses that parents can access to help support their child, on-demand self-help courses for parents and access to an individual parenting coach for up to 30 minutes each week. PTO Updates
- On Monday, March 6th our PTO is partnering with Hungry Howie’s in Howell. Take a night off from cooking and order dinner from Hungry Howie’s Pizza, this event runs from 4-9 pm. A promotional flier will be coming home this week. The classroom with the most participants will win a pizza party.
