The Timberwolf Times - January 20, 2023

#PackPride

At the last Board of Education meeting on January 9th, we were able to highlight how the elementary archery program and robotics program support academic and extracurricular experiences that help our students be “future ready!”  A few of our students, Shelby Vogan, Scarlett Rich, Remy Schaefer, and Cole Sredzinski were able to share their experiences and goals from the archery program. Jill Cain, technology teacher, was also at the meeting and shared a video for the board where students highlighted their experiences from our robotics program. Both of these programs highlight the importance of parent, family and community support that are vital to both programs' successes and how they connect to our “One Howell” beliefs. PBIS Poster Contest - Reminder

Is your child interested in participating in our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Poster/Video contest?  If so, participation is optional but for those interested in designing posters/videos, the due date is January 31st. The goal of this contest is to have students visually display what it means to be “safe, responsible, kind and respectful” here at Three Fires.  Each grade level has an honorable mention and our school wide winner will be displayed throughout the building for years to come. If you have any questions regarding the contest, please contact your child’s teacher or Mrs. Smith, Student Services Advisor, at [email protected].  We are looking forward to seeing the many entries as students seek to encourage their peers to make great behavior choices!  Click here for a copy of the flyer for more information.

Counselor’s Corner: Jeanie Nemeth

Boredom might seem like a bad thing, but it’s a much-needed counterpoint to information/stimulation overload and vital to your long-term health, happiness, and productivity. To get more comfortable with boredom, build your ability to resist meaningless distraction. Whenever you think “I’m bored,” lean into that feeling instead of instinctively reaching for the nearest gadget. Look around you. Find someone else with a free moment and talk. Wonder about something in your immediate environment, then return to the next item on your list with more focus.  Here’s to a peaceful, restful weekend.  (This was taken from How to be a Better Person: Simple Ways to Make a Difference in Yourself and Others by Kate Hanley).
