Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Poster Contest

This week your child attended a grade level Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) assembly.  The focus of the assembly was to review our behavior expectations and implement them consistently. We know that all of our students can exhibit appropriate behavior.  The assemblies concluded with a PBIS poster contest kickoff! Click here for the poster contest details.  If you have any questions regarding the contest please contact your child’s teacher or Mrs. Tyrpak at[email protected].

Counselor's Corner - Jeanie Nemeth

As we welcome yet another new year, we would like to remind you about a fantastic program that we offer to our families!  All schools in the district participate in a supplemental food program entitled Weekend Survival Kits.  A typical kit will contain approximately two weekends worth of food servings that are discreetly sent home with students every other Friday throughout the school year.  The kits are free to eligible children who currently qualify for free or reduced school meals. The contents of the food kits vary from month to month. However, some commonly included items are boxes of macaroni & cheese, individual apple sauce servings, peanut butter, oatmeal packets, granola bars, canned soup and fruit snacks. Breakfast items are always a priority in the kits. Additionally, the meals are easy to prepare!

Weekend Survival Kit application forms will be sent home with your child soon.   If you are interested in participating in the program, please complete the form and return it to Three Fires.  If you have more than one child, you only need to submit this form to one school. There is no need to fill out the form again if you currently are participating in the program.   And remember, there is no cost for your family to participate in this incredible program! Additional information about the Weekend Survival Kit program can be found by visiting www.weekendsurvivalkits.org

January is School Board Recognition Month

The month of January is School Board Recognition Month. This is a time for us to show our year-round appreciation for our school board members and their dedication to our students. These individuals approach their volunteer work like it is a full-time job, and they put in countless hours as they prepare for each meeting. If you see one of our school board members around town, please be sure to thank them for their service to our district.

No School Monday, January 21

Please remember that in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we will not have school on Monday, January 21, 2019.

Thank you School Resource Officers

Wednesday, January 9, was National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. At Howell Public Schools, we are lucky to have the support of two fantastic school resource offices, Officer Banfield of the Howell Police Department and Deputy Schuster from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department.  Both Officer Banfield and Deputy Schuster work each day to ensure the safety of our students while also building positive and trusting relationships with them.
