FIRST Lego League - Jill Cain, Design Time Teacher and Robotics Team Advisor

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the coaches who have volunteered their time and energy to lead a team in our first Robotics Club at Three Fires.  Our Junior FLL coaches are Kevin Cote, Jenelle Lybrink, Matt Medler, Tim Sredzinski, Kurtis Stubleski, Angela Suchland, and Jeff Witt. Our FLL team coaches are Brandy Akers, Jennifer Bedford, Jessica Davis, Brandon Forsythe, Carly Hicks, and Amber Stubleski. Because of their assistance, over 60 students in our school have had the opportunity to learn core values, research an idea and create a project, all while learning how to build lego missions and code a robot to solve those missions! Not an easy task.  Their dedication and hard work will establish Three Fires Elementary as respectable contenders in the FIRST Lego League. Thank you again coaches for your commitment. You are good role models to our students and the memories you are helping the elementary students create will last a lifetime.  If you are interested in seeing the Lego First Robotics program in action, our teams are hoping to showcase their work to our school community after our November competition.  We will have open enrollment for next year during Spring 2019.

Mobile Dentist

Health and wellness are central for success at school, and this includes taking care of our children’s teeth. The Mobile Dentist will be visiting and servicing our school on October 8th! Your child should have brought home the Mobile Dentist permission slip - if dental services are desired, please fill out the form and have your child return it to school as soon as possible. If you need another permission slip, let your teacher know and we will send one home with your student!

Big Brothers Big Sisters Need Mentors for our Students

Imagine what the world would look like if every child had a caring adult that listened to them, nurtured their self-esteem, and showed them the possibilities of the world. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Livingston County is currently recruiting caring volunteers who are willing to mentor (and share lunch with) an elementary student twice a month. We currently have a long list of “littles” waiting and hoping to be matched with a “big.”   If you know of anyone (parents, friends) who could provide this opportunity for a Howell elementary student, please reach out to Alyson Mapes at [email protected]  or 517-546-1140.
